My Dad and I fought a lot when I was growing up. I got real tired of
listening to what he had to say to me over and over. Imagine my surprise,
when I was living on my own, on hearing some of these same sayings coming
out of my mouth as good advice to others. Here is a list of some of the
sayings my dad instilled in me that I have found work very well for me. |

Learn the Structure Don't attack the person, attack the behavior If it works, don't knock it Shit is warm A relationship is between two people and between only those two people If you get angry, walk away. If you are still angry 24 hours later, then something needs to be done. To increase your success rate, increase your failure rate There are no right or wrong behaviors, only appropriate times and appropriate places, Foster what is there, don't try to change it Don't talk about people behind their backs I may have a bag of shit but I know where it is and ever now and then I go through it, take things out, check them over, and put them back in the bag Expose others to new things and not expect anything back |
